Straight from the horses mouth.UFC front man, Dana White recently tweeted today that Vitor Belfort is now slated to face Anderson Silva and the winner of Marquardt and Okami will be next in line. I guess this answers our questions surrounding the Sonnen rematch. Its a funny thing, seeing as how Belfort has not actually competed at middleweight yet but received a immediate title shot. If you remember, even before Chael, or Demian or even what was supposed to be Nate's shot before he lost to Chael, Vitor Belfort was supposed to be getting the shot, but like what seems like always anymore, he was injured in some manner. Even though Dana says now that the winner of Nate and Okami will get the shot, if Wanderlei can put together another win, I bet it goes to him instead.
You know why? Guys like Wandy and Vitor have serious name value amongst mma fans, and both fight a style where they're going to either KO the opponent in spectacular fashion, or get KO'd themselves in spectacular fashion.
Right you are as usual. I still think okami deserves it more but hes got zero name recognition.
I got Anderson by brutality. Vitor's wreckless power-punching style is the kind of style Anderson makes look bad. Real bad. Yes, Vitor has handspeed and ko power and could catch Anderson, but he's very predictable. Anderson won't be stupid and drop his hands like he does to goad guys who aren't throwing, and he won't be there when Vitor is sitting on a punch, he will avoid and counter all day every day. Add in Vitor's cage rust, and it's going to be Anderson KO early round 2.
